Based in Oregon, MotionGo Music is a cross-genre group led by main composer Dennis Hitchcox, who is an accomplished and versatile guitar player. He has been composing and performing in the Jazz, Rock, and Blues genres for over 20 years, and his award-winning compositions often incorporate such disparate elements as Country, Gypsy Swing, Classical, Latin, Dance, and Folk styles. A featured performer at the Portland Jazz Festival, Dennis received a BA in Jazz Compositon from the Ohio State University, and was awarded the Ruth Friscoe Prize in Jazz Composition in 2000.
Soul Jazz Interlude: This track feature a Hammond B3 coupled with a jazz guitar on lead. The rhythm section holds down a groove and a vibraphone really mellows it out and implies an eerie suspense. Instrumental, Jazz Music, Soul Jazz | Groove
Blues rock guitar instrumental. This track is very slow and steady, and the groove switches between a blues ballad and a bossa feel. Rain, Rain Go Away: this track is a real downer but spacy too. The slow 3/4 meter gives it a dreamy quality, but the chordal dissonances and minor key lend this track well to accompany a bereavement, funeral scene or sad, pensive-type moods. Instrumental, Dramatic Music, Sad Music
Easy Country Twang: This piece is really slow and relaxing. There are layered guitars sharing the melody at the beginning and the end, and a telecaster solos in the middle. The end is dreamy and spacey as if falling off to sleep. Instrumental, Country Music, Traditional Country
Easy Guitar Swing: Upbeat jazzy track that drifts right along with an easy jazzy swing. There are 2 guitars and an upright bass, no percussion. It has an early 20th century feel to it, or perhaps even a War Era feel. The playing resembles Django but also other styles of jazz guitar. Instrumental, Jazz Music, Swing Ensembles
Rhythmic Adventure: This piece uses a couple different drum patterns layered over one another, resulting in some pretty unique-sounding polyrhythms. Heavy Metal instrumental piece in a minor key, providing a very ominous, suspenseful feel. There are 3 main guitar-led parts - 1) the main heavy-hitting theme 2) a 2nd theme, more building and energetic, and 3) a spacier outro that mellows it out a bit until the end. Soft Mellow Guitar: This track has a unique 6/4 meter, mostly accented by the marimba part. An upright bass & light percussion help maintain the groove, and a Rhodes adds mellow. Synthetic instrumental. This piece adds layers throughout, starting with a very digital synth loop and percussion groove. The next layer entering is drum machine and synth bass. Rhythmic instrumental featuring guitar chord-melody. The busy percussion parts are fused with a unique bass groove in an 6/4 meter, which gives it a slight swing. The guitar, synth and Rhodes piano add a mellow feel and there's a mellow interlude as well, before returning to the main theme. Instrumental, African Music, African World Fusion
A steady tension builder and release. This is piece that builds tension and then releases a few times, broken up with variations and lead guitar works. Heavy steady beat with a simple melody. This music is ideal as a motion backdrop for urban settings, the cultures of the streets and big city life.
