Alfredo was born in Chile. He got his first guitar at the age of twelve and soon he played Beatles, Stones and Grand Funk Railroad songs. Apart from the indigenous instruments such as charango and cuatro, he also learned to play bass, piano and percussion. In 1982 he went to Germany and joined Los Latinos in Hamburg, with whom he played for twelve years. He also performed in Hamburg's famous Star Club with Tony Sheridan, Lee Curtis, Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana, guitarist and drummer of Elvis Presley's band.
