Tropical music is a broad Latin music subgenre with "tropical" flavor usually associated with Caribbean music. It heavily utilizes percussion instruments such as timbales, congas, bongo, maracas, etc. and also other instruments such as guitars, synthesizers, steel drums and so on. Tropical is a catch-all term for modernized Latin music emanating from the Caribbean. Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Rumba and Cha Cha are the most popular Tropical subgenres, although there are many others as well.
