A circus is commonly a travelling company of performers that may include acrobats, clowns, trained animals, trapeze acts, musicians, hoopers, tightrope walkers, jugglers, unicyclists, and stunt-oriented artists. Coordinated by the "ringmaster," the troupe performs to music and in a large tent, often called the "Big Top." This music is fun and whimsical, utilizing calliopes, marching drum instruments and other whacky and zany sounds and effects. Similar music is often used in the midway during Carnivals when they set up camp in a town and are entertaining.
