David J. Smith
LA-based composer David J. Smith is a classically trained pianist who opted for the guitar as a teen, inspired by players ranging from Elmore James to Eddie Van Halen. He performed heavily around LA in the 80's, and in the 90’s he was a 2nd engineer in large studios like Track Record, where he learned recording techniques from the likes of Dave Pensado and Many Marroquin. Today, David is a popular fixture on the LA Blues jam scene, where he spends countless hours on both sides of the mic, making eclectic instrumental music in the Rock, Blues, Folk, and Dramatic genres.
David J. Smith creates tracks in 5.1 surround sound utilizing an array of digital and vintage acoustic instruments, ambient sound modules, and unique listening devices. His philosophy as a musician and engineer is that sound and imagery should always complement each other and connect with the audience.
