Gordon McLeod
Gordon McLeod has been performing and composing music all of his life as a singer and musician. He performs as a solo artist, a member of several bands and as a recording session multi-instrumentalist. He has performed over much of the United States as well as in Ireland and France. He currently performs with the highly succesful world roots acoustic band Beyond The Pale which he also co-founded, as well as The Aisling String Trio and The Texas Gypsies.
His original songs are a blend of his many influences, from reggae-tinged pop reminiscent of Sting, to fiddle based country rock sounding much like The Band. His songs include the award winning song, “Hester”, featured on Beyond the Pale's album Queen of Skye. Gordon also works as a producer, specializing in acoustic, roots oriented music. He recently recorded and produced Beyond The Pale’s latest CD , “The Music Plays Me” as well as serving as producer and engineer for The Trinity River Whaler’s recent releases “Dancing Beggarman” and “Knotty Tales” and Randy Brown’s 2007 award winning release “Dream Big”.I have rather eclectic taste and enjoy playing, writing and producing many styles of music. I have produced recordings for several acoustic acts over the past five years including an award winning CD by the wonderful song writer Randy Brown (Dream Big) , five for my own world/celtic group Beyond The Pale and one for classical/folk string trio The Aisling String Trio as well as a dozen or so other projects.
My original music is a blend of the many styles I enjoy and includes influences from rock, pop, jazz, folk, celtic and classical music. Although I work in styles from folk to jazz, and play fiddle guitar, and several other instruments, I have spent a great deal of the past decade studying and performing Celtic acoustic music, particularly Irish fiddle, and I have been to Ireland every year for the past ten to study and perform. I have been lucky to perform all over the US and in Europe some too.
Currently, I am completing a collection of my own songs, and a fiddle CD as well as producing two projects for other artists.
