This well known and well-loved piece from perhaps the best known and one of the most prolific composers of all time, is played competently here by pianist Pat Holmberg. This is a soothing, comforting prelude. Instrumental, Classical Music, Baroque Period, Johann Sebastian Bach
This was a favorite standard of jazz musicians in the 30's and 40's-and to this day with groups who still play tunes from that era. It was used for sing-alongs in those days before TV when people would gather around an upright piano in someone's living room and sing for entertainment in the evenings, Instrumental, Americana Music, Americana Roots
Mid tempo ragtime piano. Ragtime, Jazzy, History, Joplin, sweet, fun, wholesome family and children. Great sitcom theme song, opening intro or closing credits. Instrumental, Jazz Music, Ragtime
Ragtime piano, toe-tapping, fun, upbeat, cheerful, reminiscent of the "roaring twenties" in American history before the Depression. Lively and certain to raise a person's spirits. Instrumental, Jazz Music, Ragtime
This is a short, simple, two-line piece in the minor mode. There is definite melodic direction here, and it goes into the major mode for a short time in the middle, then settling back into minor. It is warm, comforting and uncomplicated - beautiful in its simplicity, Instrumental, Classical Music, Baroque Period
This is a melodically-driven acoustic piano piece, with a strong and consistent rhythmic pattern underneath that melody, which is actually singable. Nice lush jazz-type chord progressions throughout. Instrumental, Classical Music, 21st Century
An energetic piece for acoustic piano in ABA form. The A sections are similar (the second one having more embellishing notes than the first), and are tonal, with a strong melodic line. The B section is quite different and more jazz oriented. Full chords moving quickly in jazz rhythms. Instrumental, New Age Music, Atmospheres
A restful, melodic piece in the classical tradition for acoustic piano. Nice use of contrapuntal effects. It tells a nice melodic story, and has warmth. Instrumental, Classical Music, 21st Century
This is the first movement by composer Carlos Seixas (1704-1742). He was living and composing in Portugal at the same time that Bach (Germany) Handel (England) and Scarlatti (Italy) were doing the same. His music is clearly Baroque, but refreshingly different from those other three. Instrumental, Classical Music, Classical Piano
Tchaikovsky was very clever at picking up the flavor of different nationalities in some of the music he wrote. This is a simple, short acoustic piano piece which is spirited and has a strong melody, and reflects a happy, perhaps beer-drinking, lederhosen clad crowd doing folk dances. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Elegant improvised piano solo with lush melody. From the Mountain Images CD about the beauty of listening to rainfall in a ski resort by a roaring fire. Romance, true love, sweetness, emotional scenes between lovers. Gets a little edgy, too, perhaps a build-up to action or emotions. Instrumental, New Age Music, Nature
A familiar melody is on this track - loved by piano students through the years. Short, with a memorable, singable melody, this is happy music. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Robert Schumann
A simple, rather poignant and haunting melody played on acoustic piano. The middle section picks up a bit in tempo and has hints of jazz/ragtime - then back to a repeat of the slower, more meditative beginning. Instrumental, Classical Music, 21st Century
For acoustic piano, this is a short, simple piece. However, in true Tchaikovsky fashion, it has a very distinctive, lovely melody, as well as some quietly moving parts under that melody which go together to make some lush, wonderful sounds. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Beautiful and strong music -- really exciting! Solo acoustic piano with strong jazz influences in the harmonic and rhythmic structures. From the first note to the last, you may find yourself tapping your toes and swaying a bit to the left and right. Instrumental, Classical Music, 21st Century
Mazurkas have their roots in gypsy music, and often are in the minor mode and seem to flit from sadness to a joyful quality, all with the same underlying steady beat. Chopin wrote many mazurkas for solo acoustic piano. This one by Tchaikovsky has a distinctive melody and typical mazurka rhythms. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
This is a short, simple acoustic piano track Schumann wrote for his children, depicting soldiers marching, exactly as the title says. It is energetic and rhythmic and just the perfect tempo for marching. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Robert Schumann
This acoustic piano track actually is reminiscent of Bach's C Major Prelude from Book 1 of the Well-Tempered Clavier. It has fast moving arpeggiated notes which move through interesting chord progressions. The texture is consistent throughout, and the melody is pleasant and singable. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Robert Schumann
For acoustic piano, this is from Tchaikovsky's "Album for the Young". It has a very distinctive melody and style - reflecting a fabulous understanding of Italy's folk music. You could hear it being played on the street by an accordion player, although it was written for piano. Simple, uncomplicated. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Elegant, soaring improvised piano solo showing the beauty of the Colorado Rockies. From the "Mountain Images" CD, it's an inspirational and delicate melody that builds. Sun coming up, snow-covered peaks, a roaring fire, romance, watching snow fall. Rich lifestyles, lush, high end ad campaigns. Instrumental, New Age Music, Nature
A popular two-step tune from the early 20th century, played here in a "stride" piano style. Has a good steady beat, and is great for singing along or dancing if you want to. Full of nostalgia from anyone born before 1935. Instrumental, Jazz Music, Ragtime
Short, staccato and upbeat, this is another of Schumann's compositions for children. This is supposed to depict a wild horseman, true to the title, and keeps up the energy throughout. Rhythmic and quick. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Robert Schumann
The six tracks on this album entitled "Mountain Images" are descriptive of places in the Colorado Rockies. They are all for solo acoustic piano - no other instruments, Instrumental, New Age Music, Nature
This is a simple, lovely, tender piece for acoustic piano. Robert Schumann and his wife Clara (the world's first woman concert pianist) had eight children, and this is one of many that he wrote for his children to listen to and to play. This one portrays a wonderfully innocent view of the world. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Robert Schumann
An acoustic piano piece with a simple melody on top and descending chromatic chord progressions below. It is a short piece, but in that short time there is a definite surging to the dramatic, high point which then gradually lets down to a quiet close. Instrumental, Classical Music, Romantic Period, Frederic Chopin
An acoustic piano improvisation on an old a familiar hymn tune. This particular one is in 3/4 time and a nice lilt. It gives a comforting and uplifting mood to your sound space. Instrumental, Spiritual Music, Christian Hymns
A familiar hymn tune which has words doing homage to God's hand in creating all the beautiful places in nature on the planet. However, this is an instrumental only track - you can mentally supply the words as you listen to the lovely melody and acoustic piano improvisation upon it. Instrumental, Spiritual Music, Christian Hymns
Beautiful, captivating melody on acoustic piano with strong jazz influences in the harmonic and rhythmic structures. From the first note to the last, this lush melody will win your heart and take you to new places with great finesse. Instrumental, Classical Music, 21st Century
Beautiful solo acoustic piano with strong jazz influences in the harmonic and rhythmic structures. Captivating from the first note to the last, this jazzy composition will win your heart and take you to new places with great finesse. Light and upbeat, this is high-spirited music at its best! Instrumental, Classical Music, 21st Century
