Music of the 1970s saw the rise of Disco, Funk, Art Rock, Progressive Rock, Hard Rock, Glam Rock, and Punk music. Emerging genres included Jazz Fusion, Chamber Jazz, Reggae, Heavy Metal and, in the late 1970s, Hip Hop. While disco is the genre of music most readily associated with the 1970s, it was English singer Elton John who was name Billboard Magazine's best Artist of the Decade for the 70s.
