1960s music is marked by the "British invasion" of American music. This refers to the numerous British groups who emerged during the early 1960s, spearheaded by the Beatles. Motown produced many R&B classics from their strong stable of vocal groups, songwriters and musicians. 1960s pop music was focused around new young "vocal" groups.
